U.S. Consumer prices rose again at the start of this year, signaling inflationary pressures that could force the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates higher than previously forecast.

The U.S. consumer price index was up 6.4% from January last year with a 0.5% increase from December to January. According to the same report, the shelter component kept inflation stubbornly high, up 0.7% month over month and 7.9% year over year.
